The Nelson County Service Authority is currently accepting resumes for the following full-time position: Apprentice Maintenance Technician.
The person filling this position will assist in the operations and maintenance of the water source, storage, and distribution system and sewage collection, grinder pumps and sewage pumping systems. Along with the installation of new water and sewer services, water meters and meter boxes as well as read water meters as needed. Perform routine maintenance and repairs on well systems, water tanks, pressure reducing valves, sewage pumping stations, grinder pumps, water and sewer piping systems and fire hydrants. Assists in all major maintenance and repairs to both water and sewage treatment plants.
The candidate should have good communication skills and work well with a team. Having experience and the ability to operate a variety of equipment including but not limited to pickup truck, dump truck, backhoe, excavator, shovel, and hand tools. Must have general knowledge of plumbing and electrical.
This is an hourly, non-exempt position, with excellent benefits package. Salary depends on experience and current licensures. Must have a valid Virginia driver’s license with the ability to obtain a Class B CDL within 12 months of hire.
